Worcester, England by Emma

I live in Worcester, England, and English is the main language spoken here. Worcester, which is famous for Lean and Perrin’s Worcestershire sauce is situated between the River Severn and is part of the Birmingham/Worcester canal. It has a cricket team and rugby team which are high in the Leagues, and it has loads of shops and a cathedral. It is historic and picturesque. Our monuments and attractions in England include: Madame Tussauds, The Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, The Planetarium, Tralfalgar Square, York Dungeons, Lake District, National Parks, Severn Valley Railway, Factories and millions more. If a friend were come and visit me, I would take them to the city of Worcester to show them its interesting history and present day, as well as London, which is the capital of my country. I would be sure to include some local events to meet local people. People typically go out to pubs and clubs where they drink alcohol and dance. Swimming, shopping and going places is also fun.

At Christmas time, people decorate the streets and have lots of parties. They give each other presents and cards and everyone gets together. At Easter, people celebrate Christ's resurrection by giving others chocolate eggs and presents. On New Year’s, people have massive parties to celebrate the end of an old year and the beginning of a new one. It was a great childhood. Everybody loves making friends with you. (Walks in the park to feed the ducks and to play on the swings and slides.) Some of our favourite sports included Football, Rugby, and Cricket because we have successful teams which are always on television, but we play just about anything. Many people think we Brits have stiff upper lips and enjoy walks in the hills and sitting in pubs with beer watching the football game, laughing and joking and flirting. We do this but lots more. We are always kind and have loads of fun. Special things about our country would be the landscapes, the friendly and fun people and the traditions that have been handed down through out the generations that never die out. I’d like people to know that you can do anything in this country and people will always respect you. You can have your say and people like you to be truthful and individual.
