I'm from Vancouver, Canada, where we have both the ocean and the mountains. One of our biggest tourist attractions is Whistler Ski Lodge. I've lived in Vancouver for 26 years and I've never been to Whistler! It's apparently beautiful. Summer and Winter. We have so many things in Vancouver. We have Gastown which is a strip in our Downtown area that has brick roads and the buildings are old style from way back when. That's also beautiful.
I love the town I live in.. It seems there's nothing ever to really do but when you think about it - we have so many tourist attractions that we never ever go to because we take them forgranted. We have Stanley Park which is acres upon acres of greenery, ocean and animals. It's beautiful. All of Vancouver is beautiful.
In Vancouver we are so multicultural. We don't have one specific culture, that's for sure. I would take anyone visiting me to all parts of the Lower Mainland. We have Little Italy, which is located on Commercial Drive. One of the most popular tourist attractions. It's coffee shop after coffee shop and fruit markets after fruit markets. You will see many types of cultures on Commercial Drive. I would take them to Chinatown. Where you can stop and get dried herbs and products you wouldn't find anywhere else.
Being such a mulitcultural city, we don't really have a "most import" holiday or festival. The one thing we do have is the PNE. The Pacific National Exhibition. That opens every year and it's a big festival with rides and games and gambling. It's NOTHING like the one in Toronto, but it's nice.
There's so much to do in Vancouver--- people go skiing, swimming, play pool, go to clubs. Everything and anything is typical in Vancouver. My childhood was great. I grew up with tons of kids in my neighbourhood - 2 blocks from Commercial Drive where we would walk up and hang out at the coffee bars. It was great.
When it comes to sports there's one that stands above the rest-- Hockey - we're Canadian - that should explain it all.
